Cost Accounting Manager

Summary of Position
This hands-on position will be responsible for all aspects of cost and inventory accounting for a rapidly growing medical device manufacturer. This individual will be focused on implementing, maintaining and managing standard cost and the overall inventory system as well as providing support and cross-functional partnership to the broader MiRus team. This position will be expected to build and maintain integrity of accounting & finance systems and processes, provide information necessary for timely business decisions, lead continuous improvement and manage execution for functional excellence
Essential Job Functions
♦ Manage the design, testing, and implementation of the cost accounting system in a new ERP installation.
♦ Complete timely and accurate month-end cost accounting and inventory management close responsibilities. Prepare financial reports & analysis for profitability (COGS, product margins), standard costing variances, and inventory valuation.
♦ Complete and review inventory-related accruals and balance sheet reconciliations each month ensuring resolution of any issues identified
♦ Execute and oversee inventory management activities including annual physical inventory counts, cycle counting and managing offsite inventory movements
♦ Review, approve and process inventory adjustments and freight invoicing
♦ Support the financial planning process to develop and communicate manufacturing costs and inventory elements of the annual operating plan and periodic forecasts
♦ Support the development of and create visibility to financial expectations in the product development process.
♦ Partner with product management to set financial commitments in business cases and with the project team to achieve committed gross margins, capital and spending expectations and execute process to develop countermeasures if necessary.
♦ Drive the improvement of select working capital metrics (days inventory) by partnering with supply chain and operations to design and execute processes to support achievement
♦ Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and information supporting decision-making to management and other functions throughout the organization
Education and Experience
♦ Minimum 5+ years’ cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with medical devices a plus
♦ Supervisory experience preferred but not required
♦ Experience working with cross functional teams
♦ Proficiency implementing and working with cloud-based enterprise ERP systems required. NetSuite experience a plus
♦ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, strong GAAP knowledge, CPA or CMA preferred
♦ Advanced proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint
♦ Proven ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly growing company
♦ Hands-on, down to earth, roll-up sleeves approach
♦ Ability to understand the big picture while being detailed oriented
♦ Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
♦ Ability to lift up to 25lbs
